Our Vision
To support the Haven as a thriving community committed to the preservation of its environment and the wellbeing and prosperity of its people
Harwich Haven is a major trade gateway, which has been fuelling the UK’s economy since 1863. With five port facilities operating in the Haven area, our marine services operate 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
Structure and governance
Harwich Haven Authority operates on a commercial basis and instead of shareholders, we are responsible to our stakeholders. We do not receive any public funding and our trust port status allows us to reinvest our surplus or profits back into the Haven for the benefit of our stakeholders.
Our stakeholders include: employees, customers, local residents, businesses, local and regional community groups, and local and national government agencies.
Our jurisdiction covers the River Stour, the lower part of the River Orwell, Harwich Harbour and a 14 nautical mile stretch of sea leading into the Haven.

We extend our thanks once again as we look back on another hugely successful, award-winning year of safeguarding Britain’s trade gateway for the benefit of all.

I am proud to present this report as Interim Chief Executive of Harwich Haven Authority.

We have once again recorded a successful year at Harwich Haven Authority, with increases to our revenue and profits reflecting the hard work displayed across the Authority throughout 2025.

2025 has been a defining year for Harwich Haven Authority’s marine services, characterised by meaningful progress in innovation, investment in critical technologies and continued delivery of safe, efficient operations for one of the UK’s busiest deep-water harbours.

Harwich Haven Authority continues to be committed to operating as a responsible and sustainable trust port, delivering positive impact for our communities, environment and stakeholders.

2025 was a year defined by meaningful engagement – across Government, our customers, wider stakeholders and our people.
